Gideon grew up in Southwest Michigan and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Michigan State, which he attended on a baseball scholarship. His experience is vast and varied; he studied art in Paris, owned a gallery in Key West and taught snowboarding in Breckenridge, Colorado for eight years. His lyrical paintings reference the landscape of the region.
